HOTEL MARKET

Comte Borrell 68, Barcelona.
Located opposite the iconic San Antoni market, the first covered market in Barcelona to be built outside the old city walls, the Market Hotel and Restaurant has touched a nostalgic nerve in the city’s hotel’s culture. Like the famous food market, the boutique hotel’s building is modernista (or art nouveau) in style but been given a chic, east-meets-west makeover in the hands of Lázaro Rosa-Violán, fusing period European architecture with calm-inducing oriental elements. The colonial-inspired Bar Rosso, which was installed quite recently, adds another dimension to the project, providing a hotel-restaurant-bar combination that has proved to be a winner on city’s hospitality scene.
